Were the censors sleeping tonight during Dancing With the Stars?

On a night when the sexiest dance ever was shown on television, one of our Las Vegas competitors found himself nearly at the bottom of the pack. That means big trouble ahead of tomorrow’s results show on the fourth week of Season 9 of Dancing With the Stars.

SPOILER ALERT: Please do not read any further if you want to get the full surprise and drama of watching the West Coast tape-delayed broadcast of ABC’s top-rated Dancing With the Stars. But come back after the show to compare notes with us!

Model beauty Joanna Krupa danced “the forbidden dance” known as the Lambada with pro partner and former Las Vegas Academy student Derek Hough. It was so hot, one had to wonder if the censors had fallen asleep at the wheel! But as smoking and as sizzling as it was, it didn’t get the highest marks from the judges. That honor went to Melissa Joan Hart and partner Mark Ballas, who danced the 1920s flapper style Charleston to score 28 points, two above Derek and Joanna, plus a tied score of 28 for Mya and Dmitry Chaplin for their sexy Lambada.

At the opposite end, it was a woeful night for our UFC champion Chuck Liddell. As said here earlier, the challenge of an American classic country two-step must have proved foreign territory for his Russian-born partner Anna Trebunskaya -- and they slipped down to just a 17-point score. But the near final dancers of the night, Michael Irvin with partner Anna Demidova and Louie Vito with Chelsie Hightower, may have just have saved him. Michael and Anna’s Bolero only grabbed 16 points, and Louie with Chelsie also failed with the country two-step, getting another dismal 16. Now it’s highly likely all three athletes face one another tomorrow, with one being cut from the lineup.

Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond, with sister Marie cheering him on from the front row, was in a total comfort zone dancing the Charleston with Kym Johnson. It was all about fun with a capital F, and their theatrics kept them safe with 24 points from the judges. Our other Las Vegas favorite Kelly Osbourne also looks to be safe after tackling the Charleston with partner Louis Van Amstel and receiving 23 points in the judges’ voting.

This was a night of four new dances for all, and here are the scores of the remaining contestants: Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff danced the Lambada and scored 18; Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer danced the country two-step and were given a middling 22; and Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo danced the Bolero and scored 24.

We’ll be back tomorrow morning with the hot-action photos from the dance floor and then another spoiler story tomorrow night as one more couple gets axed.
