By 1 p.m. tomorrow, it will have been made official three hours earlier in Nashville that country king Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement and has agreed to a contract of 16 weeks of shows next year here at the late Danny Gans Theater at hotel tycoon Steve Wynn’s resort casino towers.

Garth will meet with us over the lunch hour at the theater tomorrow to talk about how Steve persuaded him to make the comeback. Garth will break the news first in the capital of country music, Nashville. Then he’ll hop on a private jet to do it all over again here. That’s right: Two press conferences in about three hours in two cities!

Most of the details are still cloaked in secrecy, but from noon to 2 p.m. here, we’ll provide real-time coverage on Twitter, and we’ll have the full report from both cities with photos.

Since Garth’s first album in 1989, he has sold more than 115 million albums in the United States as the best-selling recording artist of all time and more than 220 million worldwide! He officially retired on Oct. 26, 2000, citing the need to spend more time with his family than touring. His record sales continued spiraling upward. The 53-year-old singer lives in Oklahoma with second wife, and longtime collaborator, Trisha Yearwood.

He formed his Teammates for Kids Foundation and began charity work and fundraisers -- several were held here. One show last year for California firefighters became five shows within an hour of tickets going on sale as a total sellout.

It’s believed that Garth’s shows here will start early in the New Year and will total 16 weeks in all during 2010. He has been spotted several times at the Wynn in recent months, and rumors of him signing on with the hotel tycoon were denied.

You can watch Garth’s announcement of the new Las Vegas run of shows, which will probably be an immediate sellout, on GarthBrooks.com.
