Former Dancing With the Stars beauty and two-time pro champion Julianne Hough, who has turned country music princess, has begun rehearsals for Burlesque starring Christina Aguilera and Caesars Palace headliner Cher. It’s the movie debut for our former Las Vegas Academy student.

Christina also makes her long-awaited silver screen debut as an actress in the story of a Hollywood burlesque club owned by Cher. Julianne plays one of the other dancers all seeking fame and fortune in Tinseltown.

Burlesque is directed by Steve Antin, who is the brother of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, the producer of Matt Goss Live From Las Vegas at the Palms, and Jonathan Antin of Blow Out. I’m told that Burlesque will not be anything like Showgirls, which was assailed by critics and won more Razzies than any other movie bomb since Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman’s Ishtar -- remember the Duck?!

“The film is sexy, but you will not have stripping. There’s no cheap lingerie shots, so don’t expect G-strings and pasties. It’s about female empowerment, ” one insider said.

Also starring in the flick, which will feature songs from Cher and Christina, are Twilight’s Cam Gigandet, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci. Cameras roll later this month, and the film is set for release on Thanksgiving 2010.
