All three of our Las Vegas favorites were declared safe last night to continue onward in the quest for the disco ball trophy on Dancing With the Stars. In the space of just eight days, the nine remaining contestants on the hit ABC show have been cut down to seven and will be trimmed down to just five.

Last night in a double elimination, snowboard champion Louie Vito and actress Melissa Joan Hart were KO’d and sent home to hang up their dancing shoes. Next week, another two will follow in defeat.

It’s possible that our Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond with partner Kym Johnson, Las Vegas Academy graduate Derek Hough with model Joanna Krupa and Las Vegas regular Kelly Osbourne with Louis Van Amstel also will escape trouble next week.

That’s because it would appear as if Michael Irvin will finally end his 50-yard runs, with either Aaron Carter with Karina Smirnoff or Iron Chef star Mark Dacascos with Lacey Schwimmer also getting the bullet. Of course, if there’s another dance-off that could involve Kelly, she could potentially vanish.

Last night at the Michael Jackson This Is It premiere, I talked with UFC hero Chuck Liddell about his experience on DWTS.

Chuck told me: “I loved it. I wish I could have stayed on longer. I’m following the show every week either live or from video recording. I had a great time and would not have traded that experience. I will dance again on the final show of the season. I have to learn a new dance for me -- the paso doble. I’m looking forward to rehearsing that and then performing it. It will probably be my best dance of the season!”

There was a lot of buzz about Taylor Swift’s appearance on last night’s DWTS -- not because of her songs but because the teenage country singing sensation is now dating young heartthrob Taylor Lautner from the Twilight films. Singer Taylor, 19, and actor Taylor, 17, were spotted together in Los Angeles before her DWTS songfest at the Staples Center for a L.A. Kings game and at her Beverly Wilshire Hotel overnight!

Donny said about the nerve-wracking experience of each week’s results show: “It’s like riding the bullet train. Everybody is on pins and needles. I now call it Manic Mondays. On the Tuesday show, you see your whole life jitterbug right before you.”

We’ll be back next Monday with a preview of the seven contestants who will become five and follow with our spoiler-alert stories and dance-floor action photos.
