We have more information about the nightlife venues that The Light Group plans for MGM’s CityCenter opening Dec. 16 that we first revealed two days ago. The nationwide TV campaign to imprint CityCenter on viewers across the country will start in October, and MGM’s head honcho Jim Mullen says he will call it a success if CityCenter grows the overall tourist market here by 5 percent!

Light Group executive chef Brian Massie will mastermind Union Restaurant & Lounge, serving a creative and playful dinner menu featuring contemporary American cuisine. His unique interpretations of American favorites will be served in a cutting-edge environment located in the heart of the resort’s casino floor. Union’s unique interiors, by renowned designer Adam Tihany, will allow guests to enjoy a meal within a hip and open layout of strategically positioned floor-to-ceiling architectural “trees.” Diners will enjoy the action and panoramic views of the casino around them while becoming the center of attention to gamblers looking on.

The Deuce Lounge, located off the main casino floor, will fuse the elements of an upscale lounge with high-limit gaming, creating an intimate nightlife experience. Guests will play at numerous blackjack tables as cocktails are served, creating an alternative gambling scene to that of the bustling casino floor. The lounge will feature HD flat screen TVs for evening sporting events with hors d’oeuvres served from Union’s kitchen.

The new Haze Nightclub will be a colossal, cutting-edge space in which guests will be challenged to question their sense of perception and reality. Designed by award-winning interior design firm I Crave, the nightclub will feature large hanging props over the entryway that will draw guests to a grand staircase transporting them to the mezzanine level, where they will enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the action below. The main dance floor will peer up at a wall of interactive projection screens stretching 100 feet across on a performance structure where impromptu acts by world-renowned artists will regularly take place. Suede walls and plush surfaces will help define the weaving interior, including a unique two-story wall of lights incorporating the latest in sound system technology.

Liquid, the resort’s adults-only pool playground and outdoor refuge, will offer guests high-energy nightclub lifestyle during the day. Opening next spring, the alfresco utopia will have 17 cabanas providing seclusion within an already exclusive setting and numerous dipping pools featuring underwater speakers with electrifying beats spun by DJs.

Meantime, Caesars Palace will open its new Garden of the Gods pool expansion this Labor Day weekend complete with waterfalls and swim-up blackjack. Final occupancy permits are expected today or tomorrow, and the pool will remain open through October. The 5-acre complex has eight pools, two wedding chapels and 50 cabanas and will reopen with a star-studded gala party next spring as part of the resort’s new convention space.
