Confirming my Aug. 13 story -- click HERE for that Strip Scribbles report -- talk show host Jerry Springer is set to host NBC’s America’s Got Talent in a live 10-week run at Planet Hollywood beginning next month.
Jerry hosted the top-rated Seasons 2 and 3 of the show but left to star in the Broadway and London productions of Chicago. His last performance in New York will be on Sunday. There was a previous one-night-only live production of AGT here on the Strip, and hotel execs and TV producers decided to roll it out as a regular Las Vegas production.
“We are delighted to welcome Jerry Springer back to Planet Hollywood, this time as the perfect host for America’s Got Talent Live,” said Planet Hollywood President Tom McCartney. “Jerry will bring his magnetic personality and enthusiasm to the live show and will be a great presence onstage in our showroom. Jerry’s entertainment experience will support and nurture the new talent being presented in Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world.”

My pal Jerry, a former mayor of Cincinnati and Dancing With the Stars contestant in 2006, continues his 19th season of taping his talk show The Jerry Springer Show.
America’s Got Talent Live begins Oct. 7 and will run Wednesdays through Sundays as the early companion production to Holly Madison’s Peepshow at the 1,300-seat CHI Theater in Planet Hollywood. Tickets for Jerry’s show went on sale this morning.
The show, which launched in 2006, is in its fourth season and has been sold to more than 100 countries, with 31 countries having their own versions! Mirage headliner Terry Fator won Season 2 of AGT and was the show’s first $1 million winner.
