Photo Gallery: Los Angeles Angels vs. the Detroit Tigers

Hundreds of sports fans made the trek across the desert from Las Vegas to Southern California for the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels game as the MLB season heads into its final month. Among them was our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue, who 35 years ago was the team photographer for the Tigers.

Here, just because everybody loves the summertime sport, is a photo gallery of what Tom captured through the lens of his Nikon. His cast of characters includes Frank Robinson and Joe Morgan, actor J.K. Simmons with Tiger GM Dave Dombrowski and Angel GM Tony Reagins.

Tom also shot from the Angels: manager Mike Scioscia, Chone Figgins, Erick Aybar, Maicer Izturis, Howie Kendrick, Kendry Morales, Bobby Abreu, Vladimir Guerrero, Tori Hunter, Mike Napoli, John Lacey, Jered Weaver and the spirit of young pitcher Nick Adenhart, who was recently killed in a car accident.

And from the Tigers: manager Jim Leyland, Justin Verlander, Edwin Jackson, Fernando Rodney, Gerald Laird, Brandon Inge, Miguel Cabrera, Placido Polanco, Ramon Santiago, Curtis Granderson, Carlos Guillen, Maggio Ordonez and Jarrod Washburn.
