Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland airs English Laundry at MAGIC

The hippest fashion boutique in town has to be the brand new Varvatos Bowery boutique at the Hard Rock Hotel. Among the clothing racks and display cases, you’ll find a raised stage with drum set and a nearby painted-over piano!

Rock stars have already discovered the instruments, having stopped shopping sprees to start playing impromptu sets. Other customers come to a complete halt and get a free and very up-close impromptu music set.

I took a tour of the store, and it’s a hard-to-believe wow. Then after dinner at the new Rare 120 across from Varvatos, I walked over to Carey Hart’s nearby Wasted Space. Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland was singing and partying to promote the launch of his new English Laundry men’s clothing line.

Incidentally, the Pet Shop Boys will perform at The Joint in the Hard Rock on Sept. 26 in support of their 10th album Yes. But tonight, you can get an advance preview of their iconic, influential sound when they perform on Jimmy Fallon’s late night NBC show.
