The official final summer weekend of 2009 attracted numerous celebrities to Las Vegas, and, as a result, I’m betting that the hills of Hollywood and the mountains in Malibu were pretty empty. Our contributing photographers were kept hopping all over town as the stars showed up to play and party.

Celebrity couple Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott of Oxygen’s Home Sweet Hollywood played hosts at Azure pool in the Palazzo. Among the other TV personalities joining their fun in the sun was actress Regina King of NBC’s Southland. Tori’s TV co-stars Bill Horn and Scout Masterson and Melissa Rivers donned hats and shades.

Melissa and her 8-year-old son flew into town for the second consecutive weekend to be with grandma, comedienne Joan Rivers, and they dined on the open-air Strip-front terrace at Lavo in the Palazzo. They ordered white wine to go with the sea bass, swordfish and Kobe carpaccio with desert treats Oreo Zeppole and bread pudding while watching the fireworks of the Sirens of T.I. show across the Strip.

Tori and Dean also took their two children and a group of friends, including the “Guncles” from their show, to Lavo. Their friend Regina also was there enjoying champagne and pomegranate cocktails and the steak and lobster pizza. The following day, Tori and Dean took the kids to the DJ brunch at First Food & Bar and had executive chef Sam DeMarco order for them so they could eat family style. Tori and the kids all rocked along when the deejay played “867-5309.”

Electro-hop duo LMFAO spent the day hosting at Tao Beach next door in The Venetian, but they chose Lavo for dinner, ordering the famed Kobe meatballs, pastas and salmon. Up in the nightclub afterward, LMFAO took a table by the DJ booth, but the crowd encouraged them to jump onstage for an impromptu performance of “La La La.” Next day, LMFAO’s Sky Blu hit First Food & Bar, ordering the BBQ chicken pizza, then joined a couple of friends in the restaurant’s photo booth!

Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves celebrated his 21st birthday with a group of 20 friends in Lavo’s private dining room. He stuck to Fiji water but ate hearty with the shellfish platter, followed by the 12-ounce filet and the chocolate trio for dessert.

Regina also turned up with actor musician Malcolm Jamal-Warner in a party of six at N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms. She started with the sashimi and tomato salad, and then shared the truffle chicken and lamb chops. Malcolm indulged in the ’shrooms, followed by halibut. However, they enjoyed the s’mores together for dessert. After the meal, the couple went up to The Playboy Club atop the Fantasy Tower, while Hinder partied with friends in Moon.
