First look at movie poster for Michael Jackson’s This Is It

In less than 20 days, tickets will go on sale for the special limited engagement of the Michael Jackson movie This Is It. The film’s official poster was released this morning.

The on-sale ticket date is Sept. 27 for the worldwide release on Oct. 28. Some theaters here in Las Vegas plan 24-hour screenings, and movie industry insiders predict that if all the tickets sell instantly, Sony will add extra days to the run. That’s the same marketing ploy that increased Michael’s planned 10 London concerts in increments up to a final 50 sold-out shows at the 02 Arena.

That added demand also would fuel fans ordering the future DVD and CD releases from the film. The poster boasts “Like You’ve Never Seen Him Before” and gives an insight into what will be part of the film. More than 100 hours of footage were shot -- some by Michael himself -- starting from April rehearsals through to the final dress rehearsals at Staples Center in Los Angeles on the night before his June 25 death.

The behind-the-scenes footage will show Michael developing and creating the spectacular with director and choreographer Kenny Ortega, who produced the Sirens of T.I. show here on the Strip. The film also will feature dancers in their routines, plus many of Michael’s songs and dances that he’d specially planned for This Is It.
