Grateful Dead frontman and rhythm guitarist Bob Weir has just wound up a reunion with fellow members on a Dead tour, but, as his fans know, he’s now back on the road with his own band RatDog.

Deadheads filled the House of Blues dancing and twirling through two full sets of classic Grateful Dead music and some RatDog originals. Bob kicked it all off with the early Dead song “Viola Lee Blues,” and he used that as interludes in and out of other songs through the entire evening.

He closed the show with a thunderous version of the Van Morrison song “Gloria,” and opening act Jackie Green joined the band onstage for that finale. Our contributing photographer and Grateful Dead admirer Erik Kabik was front and center to capture this Vegas DeLuxe photo gallery for us.

Ratdog began as a side project for rhythm guitarist Bob and bassist Rob Wasserman. The Grateful Dead disbanded in 1995 after Jerry Garcia’s death. Bob turned RatDog into his primary band, and it now has a repertoire of more than 150 songs!
