Las Vegas writer and producer Anthony Zuiker, who created the top drama CSI, says the franchise has become a $6 billion moneymaking machine for CBS -- and now it’s likely to grow even larger. Anthony cut the yellow “crime scene” ribbon with his star, actress Marg Helgenberger, for the opening of CSI: The Experience at MGM Grand.
The entire cast, except for Laurence Fishburne, attended the opening. Cameras went into a frenzy as Marg and co-stars Jorja Fox, George Eads, Liz Vassey, Robert David Hall, David Berman, Eric Szmanda, Wallace Langham and Paul Guilfoyle walked the red carpet along with CSI: Miami stars Eva LaRue and Sofia Milos.
Our contributing photographer Erik Kabik captured the starry opening ceremony and took a look at the three crime scene exhibits inside The Experience. Marg told me she’s become pretty clever at solving crimes off-camera after a decade of experience with the show, and she expected to earn a diploma for solving the MGM attractions “A House Collided,” “Who Got Served” and “No Bones About It.”
We’ll have our interview with Anthony and Marg this week when we have time to transcribe the conversations! Marg told me that after 10 years with the show, she still loves it and is signing renewals one year at a time. Anthony told me that even with all the other CSI cities, he would love to add Hawaii to the franchise.

He also predicted that the original Las Vegas daddy of them all will run at least another eight years! He added that of the 500 CSI shows to date, his favorite episode is still one from the first season of CSI in Vegas. Also this week, I will tell you if Marg and Anthony believe there is a perfect crime that exists that can’t be solved!
