Luxor headliner Criss Angel’s ‘health scare’ is untrue

Twitter and email emergencies went into overdrive yesterday with reports that Mindfreak magician Criss Angel had been taken ill and canceled his Cirque du Soleil Believe shows at the Luxor. There was such a volume of alarms and concerns within a 60-minute window that I had to jump into action!

So it’s now great to safely report that Criss is healthy and well, and no Believe shows have been canceled. In fact, Criss was happily debating ketchup or mustard on his hamburger lunch at Iron Chef winner Kerry Simon’s restaurant Simon in Palms Place.

We dug into the report and discovered that it had started because Criss had to postpone two personal appearances at his Mindfreak store in Circus Circus and weekly guesting at the new Criss Angel Liquidity Bar in the Luxor! He’s been on such a grueling round of recent TV appearances, including The Oprah Winfrey Show fall season premiere -- and because of increasing audiences at Believe -- that the appearances simply had to be rescheduled.

Criss won blockbuster ratings with his Oprah appearance; in fact, she’s invited him back to do an entire one-hour episode! They are trying to find the time to make that happen this fall. Believe sold out twice nightly over the past few weeks and is now back into the TicketNews.com Top 10 here, beating out Zumanity and Blue Man Group and tied with O.
