Michael Jackson’s This Is It to screen early in Las Vegas

It’s now officially confirmed that the Michael Jackson docu-movie This Is It will get an advance 9 p.m. screening here on Oct. 27 at the Brenden Theaters in the Palms to coincide with the midnight premiere on the East Coast.

Michael’s father Joe Jackson will host that screening here, and I will handle emcee duties on the red carpet, with celebrities and VIPs expected to attend.

Demand -- in epic numbers -- was so large for yesterday’s first day of box office ticket sales that Sony Music Entertainment said “no other movie in history has generated so many ticket sales so far in advance of its release.” The extraordinary demand led to sellouts for hundreds of show times a full month in advance!

The box office numbers show that the epic demand is worldwide, with exhibitors reporting similar through-the-roof sales in London, Tokyo, Bangkok and Sydney.
