Strip Scribbles: Las Vegas TV star caught in sex scandal

A TV star with strong Las Vegas ties was involved in one of the wildest showbiz stories I’ve ever heard, and, believe me, I’ve heard many of them. I thought I’d heard everything until this one! It’s way too explosive and scandalous to identify all the players, but if you can guess the identities, then the next time you see me and tell me who everybody is, the champagne is on me.

The story starts with a singer who became embroiled in an embarrassing incident involving a racial slur. A fast fade from popularity resulted in the unkindest form of notoriety. How better to solve that problem by marrying a major sports star and at the same time prove his status as a ladies’ man -- even though he isn’t! How to end a marriage and leave all parties convinced that their reputations are intact?

Voila! Catch the new husband in a one-night-only compromising situation with a couple of ladies rather than his preferred partners. Then fly to L.A. pretending to be in shock that the marriage had gone kaput and wind up being consoled by our friend from Las Vegas.

“Mr. Las Vegas” (no, it’s not Wayne Newton!) was there for her in her time of need, and gossip writers promptly linked them together -- and the heat was off all concerned. The master planner of this elaborate scheme, which everybody swallowed, now plans to bring the singer under his management wing and make her the co-host of his new TV show launching here this summer.

I know it’s April Fools Day, but I assure you that this story is completely true.
