It didn’t come down to a cliffhanger with reality TV star Kate Gosselin and pro partner Tony Dovolani, but it was still a predictable ending, even though The Bachelor hunk Jake Pavelka and his partner and Las Vegas native Chelsie Hightower were on the firing line in the final minutes of Week 3 of Dancing With the Stars!
SPOILER ALERT: Please do not read any further if you want to watch the West Coast tape-delayed broadcast of Dancing With the Stars without anything revealed. Consider this my one and only friendly warning! But come back after the show to see if you agree with my observations.
Right from the start of tonight’s show, it was obvious that all the front-runners were safe: Olympic figure skating gold medalist Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya, who reprised their winning number from last night, were declared A-OK for next week’s show, as were ESPN host Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough.
Also continuing on are Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Ochocino and Cheryl Burke, actress and comedienne Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel and All My Children star Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska.
Then started the worries! Would actress Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood make it through? Finally, that verdict came in, and they will have another dance. That left Kate with Tony, legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin with Ashly Costa and, somewhat of a surprise, Jake and Chelsie.
Kate was the first of that trio to be voted safe for Week 4 next Monday. That left Jake and Buzz. By the final seconds of the show, it seemed pretty definite that Buzz, the 80-year-old NASA hero, would be sent packing for outer space. Sure enough, Houston, we have a real problem. The Buzz is over! Jake was voted onward with his mission, and Buzz’s duty ended.

Next week, it’s a double-scoring session for the remaining celebrities when they get the chance to win points separately for their dancing and performances. Conceivably, one frontrunner could get a perfect 60, and one celebrity in the bottom could score less than half that.
Now the betting will be that Kate will be axed next week because everybody bet she would go home tonight, but Buzz beat her to it. Check back here to Vegas DeLuxe tomorrow for the elimination-episode photo gallery and recap.
