DJ Tiesto spins at Liquid opening today; Tao Beach gets a facelift

Hollywood celebrities will join our Strip personalities for today’s opening of the 16,000-square-foot Liquid Pool Lounge at Aria in MGM’s CityCenter and then party on through the night afterward at Haze. World-renowned DJ Tiesto has been recruited for today’s Liquid grand opening.

The new pool lounge is an intimate, adults-only, outdoor playground with poolside pampering and daytime indulgences set in a secluded, seductive and sizzling environment. Liquid, which is wholly Internet-ready, includes three VIP pools -- the main one is 1,200 square feet -- surrounded by towering plants, 85 chaise lounges and 35 daybeds, plus a 50-seat restaurant with a light menu by The Light Group’s executive chef Brian Massie.

There will be eight grand private cabanas equipped with every modern technology you could possibly think of, let alone want. Liquid will be open daily Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Meantime, Tao Beach at The Venetian began its fourth successful year in Las Vegas this week. As an icon of exotic exclusivity, Tao Beach transports visitors to an exotic Balinese escape atop Tao, the country’s highest-grossing restaurant. A new layer of sophistication has been added with upgrades and enhancements: five new exclusive cabanas, additional daybeds for lounging and lush horticulture, including 40-foot tall bamboo trees highlighting the day-to-night venue, plus the new DJ booth placed on a center-stage platform.

As Las Vegas is known both as Sin City and the Wedding Capital of the World, Tao Beach has added an amenity to cover both ends of the spectrum: An ordained reverend will hold court, available for those needing to confess sins or wishing to tie the knot under the sun. In addition to the 12 lavish cabanas, each with its own HD plasma-screen TV, DVD player/X Box 360 and DVD/game library, Internet access, private safe/storage, a custom stocked mini fridge, chilled luxury terry cloth towels, complimentary sandals and pre-programmed iPod rentals, there is a staff of private masseuses, personal misters and specially formulated Canyon Ranch Spa treatments. Lunch is served from an extensive appetizer, sushi and grill menu available 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

In addition to the cabanas, Tao Beach offers Asian-inspired daybeds throughout the 18,000-square-foot oasis with its 30-foot bar. Friday and Saturday nights at Tao Beach light up the Strip as the beach club is transformed, complete with a pool light show, floating Chinese lanterns and two 14-foot-tall fire columns. April 23 will marks the return of Good Fridays, while Sunset Sessions, featuring acclaimed DJs spinning house music, launches April 25. Tao Beach’s grand opening is May 1.
