Celebrities tackle rumba, tango on tonight’s Dancing With the Stars

The biggest question among fans of Dancing With the Stars is if tonight’s show on ABC is the one that finally spells an end to reality TV star Kate Gosselin’s quest -- and tomorrow she will be axed. All the advance word is that indeed it will, but let me tell you that in television, the narrative that propels interest forward is more important, meaning other shocks and surprises could loom over the next 36 hours.
Is it possible that perky and provocative actress Pamela Anderson might just wind up the victim in Week 4 of Season 10? ABC producers and censors have insisted that she can no longer go commando, which means she has to wear a bra and panties for the first time. Her eye-popping outfits include built-in safety devices and additional fabric cover-ups to prevent a live wardrobe malfunction -- especially tonight when she dances the rumba.

Pamela, 42, is the ultimate fan favorite with male viewers, but women are setting records in voting and rating numbers for the top of the leader board rivalry between Nicole Scherzinger, formerly of Pussycat Dolls, and Evan Lysacek, the Olympic figure skating champion. Ratings for DWTS topped rival American Idol on Fox for the first time two weeks ago.
Tonight, now that actress Shannen Doherty and astronaut Buzz Aldrin have been eliminated, the question is who will wind up with the lowest votes and be the third to go on tomorrow’s results show. Could it be another guy? The Bachelor stud Jake Pavelka, Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Ochocinco or All My Children heartthrob Aiden Turner instead of Kate?

It all depends on two major factors affecting the 35-year-old Kate. She is torn over the decision by ex-husband Jon Gosselin to wrestle custody of their eight children from her on the basis that DWTS duties are keeping her away from their Pennsylvania home, plus she’s traveling to promote her new book. Kate faces a crucial decision, and she simply might have to quit.
Stay tuned for our live Twitter reports from 5 p.m. our time onward as the live satellite feed goes to the East Coast tonight. I promise no judges’ scores until our post-broadcast report here at Vegas DeLuxe with the appropriate spoiler warning.
Meantime, while you await tonight's cutthroat competition, here’s a YouTube video from yesteryear of three dancing divas who would have won DWTS, Star Search and America’s Got Talent if they were being broadcast back then. Skip through the song and focus on the dancing gymnastics. I'm pretty sure nobody this season -- or the previous nine -- could duplicate this!
