It was exactly as predicted: Reality TV star Kate Gosselin with pro partner Tony Dovolani wound up at the very bottom on last night’s episode of ABC’s top-rated Dancing With the Stars.
But it was actress Pamela Anderson who surprised everybody’s expectations and danced her way into third place with Damian Whitewood with a score of 47 -- only 5 points behind the leaders, figure skating champion Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya with 52 for their tango, and hard on the heels of singer Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough, who scored 50 with their rumba. Nicole was visibly disappointed at herself and about the judges’ critiques and scores.
The other surprise leap forward last night was with Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Ochocinco, who grabbed 44 votes for his rumba with Cheryl Burke. The judges raved at his incredible improvements. In fact, the judges told Pamela and Chad that their dances were the best they’ve done so far!
Kate scored a dismal combined score of 32 out of a possible 60 for the tango despite words of encouragement from all three judges that brought a smile to Kate’s face. Judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli did double scores for technique and performance for all the contestants last night.
Kate, however, is only one point behind All My Children star Aiden Turner, who danced with partner Edyta Sliwinska in the most amazing outfit ever seen on Dancing With the Stars’ 10 season. This could almost be the story of the miracle that took place to hold the barely there dress together! But the solid-silver attraction of her wardrobe only netted 33 for their rumba to Kris Allen’s “Live Like We’re Dying.” Aiden’s co-stars were in the audience, including soap opera legend Susan Lucci, who wasn’t happy with the couple’s scores, either.

It was the slips and stumbles by The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka, who danced the tango with Las Vegas’ own Chelsie Hightower, that might oust him -- and thus save Kate yet again tonight. Jake scored 38.
So at the bottom of the board going into tonight’s third elimination, it’s Kate with 32, Aiden with 33, comedienne and actress Niecy Nash with Louis Van Amstel at 36 and Jake at 38. The rumba that Niecy and Louis danced was dedicated to the memory of her brother who was murdered 17 years ago. ABC photographer Adam Larkey shot this amazing set of photographs of last night’s dance-floor action.

Right in the middle of the leaderboard are ESPN reporter Erin Andrews with our Le Reve choreographer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. They scored 39 for their tango, but of far more importance are rumors of their romance! They’ve admitted to kissing and have been seen out together, but for now they are denying that they’re dating. The buzz, however, indicates that the magic is underway.
We’ll be back tonight with our live tweets as the live broadcast beams from Hollywood at 5 p.m. our time for the 8 p.m. East Coast time zone. Right afterwards, we’ll post our story of the ousted contestant and return again tomorrow with a full photo wrap-up of the exit.

Will Kate finally be sent packing? Will Aiden’s departure save her one more time? Will there be an upset between Niecy and Jake? The Dancing dramas continue tonight on America’s No. 1 show two weeks in a row!
EDITOR’S HIGHLIGHT
In what was a fairly lackluster night, despite solid and entertaining performances from Evan, Pamela and Chad, the show’s highlight occurred in the “celebriquarium.” Co-host Brooke Burke asked Kate how she was feeling after her performance and the judges’ critiques, and her response was, “Wow.” Tony said in a somewhat hushed tone, “Kate Gosselin speechless. This is awesome!” The reactions from Anna, Maks, Erin and Evan in the background were priceless.
