Las Vegas boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have been almost two hours late for his media ring workout yesterday, but he thinks the upcoming battle against Sugar “Shane” Mosley is already over. Floyd said, “It’s the biggest fight of the year, but Mosley has problems. He has no plan or blueprint to work from to beat me because I’ve never been beaten.”

Floyd Mayweather Sr. added: “My son’s gonna dance, prance, move and groove and make him look like a fool. All his mouthing off is because he’s scared already.” The matchup is May 1 at MGM Grand Garden Arena and has a rematch clause in the contract.

That means Floyd could fight Shane a second time before he would battle Manny Pacquiao. Floyd fights only once a year, so it could be well into 2011 before what would be the greatest fight of the decade occurs. But Floyd says he’s already the greatest fighter of all time!

4/14/10: Floyd Mayweather Jr. Practice

In 15 years, Floyd has fought 40 professional fights and has no losses (before turning professional, he did lose at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996). Our contributing photographer Erik Kabik was amid the media melee at Mayweather Boxing Gym for our photo gallery.

Erik told me: “Floyd arrived almost two hours later than planned in his white Ferrari. While waiting for him, I spotted 5-year-old Lehkei Mayweather, son of Roger Mayweather, Floyd’s trainer and uncle. Roger was training with Lehkei, who showed off his own boxing chops, and already at age 5, you can see he has the Mayweather champion spirit.

“Young Lehkei shadowboxed through the ring while the media waited for Floyd. He seemed right at home in the ring. Like his cousin and champion Floyd, Lehkei is not shy around the cameras, either.”
