Photos: Star-studded red carpet for Kenny Chesney’s Summer in 3D

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were among the contingent of country music and Hollywood stars who turned up for the premiere of Kenny Chesney’s film Summer in 3D last night at Rave Motion Pictures in Town Square, and, yes, Tim and Faith brought their 3D glasses with them. So did Reba McEntire!

Singers Dierks Bentley and Jewel, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman (who narrated the film), actor Matthew McConaughey (who is one of tonight’s presenters at the ACM Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena) and Shear Genius host Camila Alves (Matthew and Camila have two children together), and Kenny’s band members were among the VIPs in attendance.

Kenny, who is scheduled to perform at the ACM Awards tonight, told me: “Even though I was in the edit bays doing all the cuts with the director and overseeing the music edits, it’s the first time I’m seeing the entire movie in 3D all together. I wanted to give fans an incredible experience by doing this in 3D.

“They literally get to see what I see when I go out onstage and play for 75,000 people. It could only be achieved with the real 3D process. We filmed the footage at six concerts in five different cities. From start to finish, the entire project was a two-year undertaking.”

Director Joe Thomas said $4 million was spent on just the film shoot and editing. Kenny is the largest concert-ticket-selling act of this century and returns to The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel from May 14-15 and July 2-3.
