When you follow in Tom Cruise’s footsteps and dance to Risky Business, you have to figure that you’ll be taking off your pants to win. And that’s exactly what The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka did, but he did put them back on to hear the judges’ verdicts!
SPOILER ALERT: Please do not read any further if you want to watch the West Coast tape-delayed broadcast of Dancing With the Stars without anything revealed. Consider this my one and only friendly warning! But come back after the show to see if you agree with my observations.
Much as we -- and everyone in the entire world -- predicted, the reality TV star everybody loves to hate failed to get out of the bottom positions, but the question is will viewers save her once again or eliminate one of the other two low-scorers of the night?
It was disappointing that our Planet Hollywood headliner Pamela Anderson didn’t improve on her giant leap forward from last week. The actress and sex symbol with partner Damian Whitewood notched 21, but it did keep them ahead of nearest rivals Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke and comedienne and actress Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel, who tied at 18 apiece.
Chad and Cheryl performed the quickstep to The Jungle Book theme, and Niecy and Louis did the jive to La Bamba. The dancers dueling for No. 3 alongside Pamela and Damian didn’t change this week. ESPN anchor Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy scored a 22 with the jive from Pulp Fiction, just one point below Jake and his pants on the floor routine with Las Vegas’ Chelsie Hightower with 23 for their cha cha cha.
It came down in the last moments to Pussycat Dolls princess Nicole Scherzinger and our Las Vegas dance pro Derek Hough performing the tango to Pretty Woman and Olympic figure skating champion Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya dancing the exotic rumba to Armageddon. It’s not the end of the world for them, but it is a battle royal now between them for the top spot.
Nicole and Derek scored a whopping 29, as the judges all agreed that it was her best dance of the season to date, and Evan and Anna received 27, keeping them safely in the battle for the disco ball trophy.
Now it’s up to the viewers -- and maybe they will save Kate at the bottom of the board with just 15 judges’ points? Maybe Niecy or Chad will get bounced off to keep the Kate saga continuing for another week of annoyance? But, honestly, with a measly 15, it’s time for Kate to return to the farm and her brood!
We’ll have tonight’s dance-floor action photos here tomorrow, and then we’ll return tomorrow night with the real-time news as to whom packs their dancing shoes and suitcase and returns home.
