It was ladies’ night at the 45th Academy of Country Music Awards last night at MGM Grand Garden Arena, as Lady Antebellum picked up five awards, Miranda Lambert won three statues, and Carrie Underwood repeated as Entertainer of the Year -- the only woman in the history of ACM to win entertainer twice, let alone repeat.
As a teaser to our extensive coverage later today, we’re posting photos of country and Hollywood super couple Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman on the orange carpet and a photo of Miranda and boyfriend Blake Shelton, who won his first ACM Award last night -- for Vocal Event of the Year with Trace Adkins for “Hillbilly Bone.”
Miranda won Video of the Year for “White Liar,” Female Vocalist of the Year (beating Carrie and the once-unstoppable Taylor Swift), and, in a bit of an upset, Album of the Year for Revolution, defeating heavily favored and immensely popular Lady Antebellum. Miranda won Album of the Year in 2008 for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, making her the only female artist to win the album award twice.
Check back to Vegas DeLuxe later today for our full ACM Awards wrap-up and photo gallery from photographers Tom Donoghue, Erik Kabik, Scott Harrison and Las Vegas News Bureau's Brian Jones, plus a recap of how Las Vegas went country with, among others, Miranda, Kenny Chesney, Julianne Hough, Randy Houser, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian.
And be sure to check out Mr. Vegas DeLuxe Robin Leach’s tweets from the arrivals to backstage at this year’s lively ACM Awards hosted for a 12th time by Reba McEntire.
