Which celebrity is under the gun on tonight’s Dancing With the Stars?

It’s an intriguing night on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, America’s top-rated show, that could well determine the final outcome in the grab for the prized disco-ball trophy. Will it come down to The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver hunk Chad Ochocinco facing elimination, or will actress Pamela Anderson hit the exit stakes for the third time?
Up at the top of the leaderboard, perhaps Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger will beat Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek for a second consecutive week and signal the final first- and second-place finishes at the end of Season 10? Last week, Nicole received a near-perfect 29 points, and she’s promised to push for 30 tonight.
Producers, though, will keep us guessing tonight as the contestants will be even sexier as they dance the samba or the aggressive Argentine tango. Plus, it’s the night that the dance professionals will wear the costumes designed by their celebrity partners, and all seven couples will compete head-to-head in a swing dance contest.
Pamela has been rehearsing her Argentine tango in addition to the swing, but her diligence to date hasn’t paid off with viewer votes, although the judges have been really impressed with her determination, diligence and dedication to her dancing. With last week’s exit by reality TV star Kate Gosselin, I hope viewers won’t turn any of their wrath still left on the former Baywatch star who not only wed here in Las Vegas, but also said her vows while headlining in The Magic of Hans Klok at Planet Hollywood.
It’s a toss-up whether actress and comedienne Niecy Nash, also dancing the Argentine tango, will line up alongside Pamela, Chad and Jake as the foursome stands on the chopping block at the end of the show. Chad and Jake will dance the Argentine tango, too, so all four will be judged on the same dance. Two will be declared safe tomorrow, and two of them will face off in the final seconds.
Evan competes against Nicole and our onetime Las Vegas resident Derek Hough in the sexy and sassy samba. Also sashaying sensationally to the samba will be ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews and her partner, our Le Reve choreographer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
So it’s a safe prediction that although I’d love to see Pamela in the top trio, it looks as if it will be Nicole and Evan continuing their battle for the top spot, followed by Erin. Then the remaining four contestants will be fighting to stay alive at the bottom of the pack. The final performance show is just four weeks away on May 24, with the two-hour season finale set for May 25.
As usual, we will use Twitter for live reports -- but without the judges’ scores, unlike some other Web sites -- as the West Coast live show is telecast back to the East Coast. Then moments after the broadcast, we’ll have our spoiler-alert story posted here with the judges’ scores and rankings.
