Both onscreen and off the screen, they are a tough, ornery bunch of strong fighting men! Sylvester Stallone handpicked a powerhouse lineup for his new action film The Expendables, and many of them will be flexing their muscles on the red carpet at Planet Hollywood tonight for a screening ahead of its wide release.
Included in the cast are our hometown heroes UFC champion Randy Couture and actress Charisma Carpenter, who was born in Las Vegas and whose credits include Baywatch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl is one of the executive producers of the high-action thriller, and he’ll welcome the all-star crowd today.
In addition to Sly, Randy and Charisma, our contributing photographers and videographer will be on the lookout for my British pal Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren (who arrived yesterday for a dinner at the hotel’s Strip House), “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Eric Roberts, Terry Crews and Giselle Itie. Our Editor Don Chareunsy also will be on red carpet duty, and we’ll have the full report and photo galleries right here at Vegas DeLuxe tomorrow.
Jason Statham and Holly Madison at Chuck Liddell's UFC 100 after-fight party.
Planet Hollywood executives have held screenings and movie premieres since the resort opened, and the schedule will continue with at least two premieres this fall. Our previous The Expendables coverage has included filming beginning in Louisiana and subsequent location shoots and YouTube videos. The story, whose cast also includes Jet Li and Bruce Willis, is about a rugged, take-no-prisoners group of mercenaries who find themselves caught in a double-sided mission when sent by a government agency to eliminate a South American dictator funding an army of killers with drug money.
Tonight’s red carpet, where I’m betting Peepshow stars Holly Madison and Josh Strickland and their Holly’s World co-star Angel Porrino will share the spotlight, is free and open to the public. After the screening, the stars are expected to enjoy a private VIP dinner and party as Robert’s guests.
