In L.V. this weekend: Lady Gaga, Mya, Blake Shelton, comedians, ’80s bands

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta has been deemed the new Madonna. She recently made an enemy in Jerry Seinfeld with her much-talked-about appearance at a New York Yankees game. Her music was the subject of one of the most memorable episodes of Glee’s inaugural season. And her music videos are some of the most watched on YouTube.
Whatever the event and no matter the location, Lady Gaga always makes headlines, and she headlines tonight in a sold-out concert at MGM Grand Garden Arena, with Semi Precious Weapons serving as her opening act. SPW hosts the concert after-party at Studio 54. (Her two concerts at the Palms in December also were at capacity.)
If the singer of Monster Ball Tour hits “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Paparazzi,” “Bad Romance” and “Telephone,” with Beyonce, isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty else to sate your thirst in Las Vegas in what is forecast to be another 100-plus-degree weekend.
Friday, Aug. 13
It’s a rapper’s delight with Oscar winners Three 6 Mafia, Gorilla Zoe, Ya Boy and Splitbreed on their Bud Light 21 Tour at Planet Hollywood, while Mickey Avalon dirties up Ditch Fridays at the Palms during the day, and Fabolous is at Rain in the Palms in the evening.
It’s a triple bill at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel with Coheed and Cambria, Porcupine Tree and The Dear Hunter, while Los Lonely Boys ask how far is heaven poolside at the Hard Rock. For a trip down memory lane, soul legend Al Green is at the Las Vegas Hilton for two nights, and Blue Oyster Cult performs a free concert at Fremont Street Experience through Sunday.
David Spade, Fergie and Carmen Electra.
If laughter is the best medicine, Tim Allen will be prescribing it in his standup debut at The Mirage, Bill Engvall will keep it redneck style at Treasure Island, and David Spade will serve it up through tomorrow at The Venetian.
Josh Koscheck at Studio 54 in MGM Grand on May 29, 2010.
Post-concerts and -comedy, UFC studs Josh Koscheck, Josh Thomson and Phil Davis are hosting the ultimate bachelor party for Jon Fitch at Tabu Ultra Lounge in MGM Grand, and Lady Gaga’s DJ VH1, no affiliation to the music network, spins at Jet in The Mirage. Will Gaga jet to The Mirage to support her DJ or stay put at MGM grand to play with her Semi Precious Weapons?
Jenny McCarthy hosts at Pure in Caesars Palace on Aug. 8, 2009.
Saturday, Aug. 14
It’s the 4th Annual Midsummer Night’s Dream Party at Palms Pool and Bungalows and the birthday party of Kevin Dillon of Entourage, and the party hostess with the mostess is Jenny McCarthy. The guest list includes Bryan Greenberg and Cameron Calderon of HBO’s How to Make It in America.
In another big music night, Rush follows in the 10-inch Alexander McQueen Armadillos’ footsteps of Lady Gaga at MGM Grand, Matchbox Twenty’s sexy singer Rob Thomas is at Red Rock Resort, Mya is the main attraction at Bare Pool Lounge in The Mirage as part of the four-day LGBT Fabulous party weekend, and Primus rocks The Joint in an unusually scheduled midnight concert. Break out the Red Bull.
Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol backstage at Cirque du Soleil's Love at The Mirage.
Over at The Orleans, Blake Shelton shakes his “Hillbilly Bone” and Uncle Cracker smiles at the 2nd Annual Coyote Countryfest, Bob Saget shares dirty jokes through Sunday also at The Orleans, rock legend Ted Nugent is at Star of the Desert Arena, and the sold-out Lost 80s Live at Mandalay Bay Beach offers the ultimate blast from the past with Animotion, The Escape Club, When in Rome, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Motels, Dramarama, A Flock of Seagulls and Real Life.
Trace Adkins, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton with their ACM Awards before the awards telecast on April 19, 2010.
Test! Match the following songs with the previously listed ’80s artists: “I Ran,” “The Promise,” “Wild Wild West,” “Only the Lonely,” “Send Me an Angel” and “Obsession.” Now try to get the songs out of your head, suckas.
The Killers' lead singer Brandon Flowers.
Sunday, Aug. 15
It’s music, models and fashion, as Killers frontman Brandon Flowers goes solo in a sold-out show at the Las Vegas Hilton, America’s Next Top Model winner Krista White (ravishing Raina was robbed!) hosts a meet-and-greet at Parallel in The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, and MAGIC fashion week for the men commences with Trevor Rains of Heatherette at Revolution’s Closet Sundays at The Mirage.
Next week
Blues god B.B. King is at his B.B. King’s Blues Club in The Mirage on Monday, Chael Sonnen, Skyskrape and Punkass bring on the pain at Pure in Caesars Palace on Tuesday, Jabbawockeez are at Haze in Aria on Wednesday, music legends Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp perform together at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace on Wednesday, and Vertical Horizon and Crash Kings are at VooDoo Beach at The Rio for the Live 107.9 Miller Lite Poolside Concert Series on Thursday.
