Glam rockers Semi Precious Weapons hosted an after-party at Studio 54 in MGM Grand last night after their concert with Lady Gaga just up the way at MGM Grand Garden Arena, and fans were lined up all the way back to the casino floor to party with Justin Tranter, Cole Whittle, Dan Crean and Stevy Pyne.
Semi Precious Weapons and Lady Gaga go way back to when she opened for them in New York City as a relative unknown, so what goes around comes around. It’s great karma -- and great exposure -- for SPW to open for Lady Gaga on the worldwide Monster Ball Tour, which returns to MGM Grand Garden Arena on March 25.
Never one to shy from the limelight, lead singer Tranter arrived in a studded gold ensemble and silver high-heel boots with Veuve Clicquot in hand and was joined by his bandmates. Accompanying the boys on the red carpet was actress Bai Ling in a skimpy leopard-print outfit.
Once inside Studio 54, Tranter took to the mic in the DJ booth to welcome the crowd by screaming, “Tonight, we, Semi Precious Weapons, have been with the one and only Lady Gaga! Are you ready to party?!” and the hotspot erupted as Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” blasted through the speakers. The band partied onstage as Tranter spun the wheels of steel late into the night.
