It was a night of happiness that turned into high drama for socialite and Las Vegas regular Paris Hilton, who was released from jail this morning after being arrested for cocaine possession in a vehicle driven by boyfriend and Las Vegas nightlife mogul Cy Waits outside the Wynn shortly before midnight yesterday.

Cy, who with twin brother Jesse Waits is a managing partner of Tryst in the Wynn, XS in the Encore and Drai’s After Hours in Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall, was reportedly booked separately on a DUI, alcohol and/or drugs, charge at Clark County Detention Center. He is due for a hearing on the arrest tomorrow, while Paris was reportedly released on her own recognizance after nearly 3 hours in jail.

The arrests come on the heels of the news yesterday of nightlife impresario Victor Drai and billionaire Steve Wynn parting ways, but with the brothers remaining with Steve to operate the nightclubs. Vegas DeLuxe posted an interview with Victor yesterday about the split.

Paris and Cy had been celebrating his new business relationship at XS last night when they were pulled over by Las Vegas police outside the Wynn en route to his home in Henderson when a suspicious smell was detected from his vehicle. The crowd at the Wynn recognized Paris and grew in size watching the arrest.

Paris just last night had her hair styled by colorist to the stars Michael Boychuck at his Color salon in Caesars Palace in a photo shoot with contributing photographer Erik Kabik alongside Emily Jillette, Jenna Morton and Alicia Jacobs. The photographs have not yet been authorized for release.

Paris has been in Las Vegas nearly every weekend with Cy since returning from her European and World Cup travels. On Monday, Paris credited Cy with apprehending a knife-wielding burglar at her L.A. home, saying, “He saved my life.”

Metro Public Information Officer Marcus Martin said Paris was booked into Clark County Detention Center early this morning, according to Reuters. Paris spent three weeks in an L.A. jail three years ago for violating her probation in a reckless driving charge.

Paris is now saying that the purse that contained the cocaine wasn’t hers. The arrest is making headlines as far away as Europe and Australia this morning. The bigger question this morning is what will happen to Cy and his relationship with Steve’s casino resorts. A Wynn representative said the hotel had no comment on this matter when contacted for an official statement.

Vegas DeLuxe will continue to monitor this developing story.
