Steve Wynn’s ‘council of war’ midnight meeting about XS, Tryst

Vegas Deluxe has learned that in the sad and sorry saga involving twin brother nightlife moguls Cy and Jesse Waits over the weekend that Cy was dismissed from XS and Tryst at Steve Wynn’s properties -- and at time of writing this, Jesse’s future was being evaluated.

Numerous sources last night reported and then NBC Channel 3 reporter Alicia Jacobs re-confirmed that Cy had been promptly let go because of the DUI alcohol and/or drug arrest. “It’s not who Cy is or what he’s all about, but this has become really big, bad trouble for him,” one of his closest friends told me. “And Jesse doesn’t know what will happen to himself yet, but it’s a very difficult situation now for him, too. He knows his own future there is uncertain.”

In fact, late last night, Steve himself showed up at his Encore and Wynn hotels and chaired a “council of war” meeting with top casino executives, house lawyers and his top PR experts. No official statement has been released about Cy’s dismissal or detailing Jesse’s future or any idea of when it might be forthcoming because of pending court hearings. It certainly is not expected today.

Jesse’s pal reported to me late last night: “Jesse had to meet with them all, but he was on the property running XS. But he realizes he’s not in a great position right now.” It was only 24 hours before the arrest that the brothers were elevated to management and partner positions at the two mega-buck clubs. They even relinquished their arrangement with former owner Victor Drai at his Drai’s After Hours at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall and The W Hotel in Hollywood.

As we posted this story for Vegas DeLuxe, it has become increasingly difficult because of the veil of silence at the Wynn to learn what the final outcome will be. But I am already hearing solid rumors that at least one other nightlife operating group would be willing to depart its rival hotel base of operations to move to the Wynn, plus at least one very wealthy Las Vegas investor who is prepared to make an offer to buy the clubs from Steve if he decides to sell rather than deal with the continued problems.

There also have been fun rumors that Steve might have to invite Victor back to run the two clubs he left last week, but I’m told that situation is a very unlikely scenario -- at least for now! We’ll keep you posted as the story continues to develop.

Meantime, enjoy this new set of photographs by contributing photographer Erik Kabik of Paris Hilton’s hair and makeup session at Michael Boychuck’s Colors salon at Caesars Palace just 4 hours before she and her boyfriend Cy were pulled over by Las Vegas Metro Police and arrested.
