Strip Scribbles: Love, Pink and Eminem at the Grammys

Las Vegas scored well at last night’s 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in L.A. with Pink’s knockout fashion and performance. The pop star, who is married to stuntman and Wasted Space and Hart & Huntington owner Carey Hart, hung suspended over the audience when she performed “Glitter in the Air” like a Cirque du Soleil acrobat in a large white sheet.

She appeared in a white hooded robe, and then stripped to reveal a sheer nude body suit with glitter and white straps. Pink splashed the audience as she was dunked in a water tank. Keith Urban, a Grammy winner last night who followed Pink, said the Grammys had never seen such a spectacular act before.

Congratulations to all involved with Cirque’s Beatles show Love at The Mirage. It won the Grammy for Best Long Form Music Video for the DVD that documented the show’s creation and music. The Soundscape album of the same name All Together Now also won two Grammys for producers Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin for Surround Sound Album of the Year and Best Compilation Soundtrack in a Visual Medium. To date, Love has played to 1.6 million since opening on June 30, 2006.

Several Grammy winners came from recordings at George Maloof’s Studio at the Palms, including Eminem’s Relapse for Best Rap Album.

*Comedian Carrot Top has announced that he will be holding a national prop contest. The winning prop will be used in his show at the Luxor, and the creator will be awarded a trip for two to the Luxor. “The idea to do a national prop contest came after we had one specifically for Luxor employees,” said Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson. “There were some really great ones, and I still use the winning prop in my show at Luxor. *My friend actress Joan Collins and husband Percy Gibson flew in on a private Warner Bros. jet to catch Bette Midler’s farewell weekend shows. They had dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace after a shopping spree. The Spago kitchen that catered Bette’s private reception served Joan her very own titled “rich and famous” pizza of caviar and smoked salmon!

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart cozied up with a sexy blonde at dinner with friends in Tao at The Venetian. Rapper Chingy also hit Tao for dinner, and then upstairs in the nightclub gave an impromptu performance on the catwalk. Kirsten Dunst was among those who went over to say hello. Andy Baldwin, the U.S. naval officer who was The Bachelor on Season 10, also was at Tao. … Over at sister spot Lavo in the Palazzo, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy stopped in for dessert of Oreo Zeppole and gelato after having enjoyed lunch at the nearby Dos Caminos restaurant earlier.

*Extra and 2010 Miss America Pageant host Mario Lopez and girlfriend Courtney Mazza enjoyed dinner in a private dining room at Strip House in Planet Hollywood with nine friends, including Eva Longoria Parker’s mother Ella Eva Mireles Longoria. … Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw had lunch with six people at Society Cafe in Steve Wynn’s Encore. Laurie Peterson of The Real Housewives of Orange County also had lunch at Society.

Tonight’s tips

Russ Rivas, Sean Corvelle and Rob Sherwood are the trio of comics appearing at the Riviera Comedy Club through Sunday. … Celebrity chef Michael Mina starts a special five-course menu at his Bellagio restaurant for $88 per person that includes chilled lobster, soup with foie gras, duck, smoked short ribs and honey braised pineapple. The menu is available for two months.

It’s the fifth anniversary of Cirque du Soleil’s amazing Ka at MGM, and Holly Madison pays a backstage visit. A 10-year under the radar romance with Daisy Fuentes comes to an end for singer Matt Goss as he bounces to a new gig at Caesars Palace.
