Grammy Award-winning music legend Carlos Santana is becoming more and more involved with our Las Vegas community with his residency headliner appearances at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel. The guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is teaming up with sports legend and philanthropist Andre Agassi.
Carlos will tour Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy tomorrow morning after his performances of Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits resumes tonight at the Hard Rock.
Andre will give Carlos a tour of the school and introduce him to the students. To welcome him to the educational institution, students from the drum line will showcase their own musical skills with a kickoff performance. Don’t be surprised if Carlos gets down with them in an impromptu jam session!
Starting tonight, Carlos’ audiences can donate to Andre’s Education Foundation in increments of $5 via text message. Carlos says he hopes to encourage the donations nightly during his new run to support the prep school. Andre saw its first senior class graduate last year with a 100 percent college acceptance rate.
The Hard Rock show features Carlos’ career-spanning classics and virtuoso guitar work. His set list reaches back to his first chart single “Jingo” in 1969, the Top 10 hit “Evil Ways” in 1970 right up to his latest “Into the Night.”

Earlier this week, Carlos said that he’s fallen in love with Las Vegas and wants to be more involved with the community. He told my nightlife colleague Doug Elfman that he’s seriously looking into finding a home here to live half the time in Las Vegas and half the time at his current home in San Francisco.
