Celine Dion’s fan club members have already started “briskly buying” pre-sale tickets of her initial 54 concerts set to start March 15 of next year, and Vegas DeLuxe has learned that it’s a much lighter schedule for the Canadian superstar than her previous run in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Celine will initially take every Monday and Thursday off, but after the debut run, Friday nights will be added as another free day in her schedule of four shows a week and three nonperformance days.
The first run goes from March 15 to April 17, and then Celine takes off from April 18, all of May and returns June 7. She’ll get another break from July 4 through July 18 and resumes July 19 through Aug. 14. Celine has agreed to do 70 shows each year for the next three years in a $100 million deal. Dates for remaining 2011 performances will be released later this year.
Caesars Palace executives and AEG producers wanted to give the year’s advance notice on ticket sales to enable fans from all over the world to plan their vacations around Celine’s Las Vegas schedule. “We’re already getting ticket buyers locking in dates as far away as Britain and Australia,” I was told yesterday.
I also learned yesterday that members of Celine’s fan club buying during the pre-sale, which ends today, were “brisk buyers,” and now an avalanche of general public ticket sales is expected when the box office, telephone lines and online Ticketmaster sales start at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
