Tickets went on sale this morning 13 months in advance for Celine Dion’s new run of shows in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and the response was “extremely strong.” “We are very, very, very happy with the demand. It’s definitely exceeded expectations,” an AEG/Concerts West executive monitoring sales told me from the box office.
“We are extremely pleased because ticket sales are extremely strong. Opening night basically sold out within the first few minutes. Celine and Rene (Angelil), through their team, have been kept fully informed of the high pace of sales, and they are naturally as pleased as we are. It has to be one of the, if not the biggest and longest upfront advance sales. We are talking about people making plans to be here in Las Vegas 13 to 14 months from now. It’s absolutely amazing!”
Celine begins her new three-year residency of 70 shows a year at The Colosseum on March 15, 2011. She played five consecutive years of sold-out shows at The Colosseum before starting the yearlong Taking Chances worldwide tour visiting five continents, 25 countries and playing to more than 3 million fans. It’s all been recorded in a docu-movie, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World, that gets eight screenings starting next week through to month’s end.
