Paris Hilton: ‘I can’t wait for our future together. It will be amazing’

As we reported yesterday here at Vegas DeLuxe, Paris Hilton’s marriage plans for later this year firmed up a little more over the weekend when boyfriend Doug Reinhardt told me “the engagement will still come as a surprise in the very near future.” That prompted an ecstatic Paris to coo: “We’re so excited about this. I can’t wait for our future together. It will be amazing.”

On their last visit to Las Vegas, Paris said she wasn’t ruling out a 2010 wedding, and there has been online buzz that the couple are planning to turn the engagement, wedding planning and ceremony into a reality TV show.

Paris added: “I see a very bright and happy future. He’s taught me how real love can feel. Everything is going beautifully between us.” She has also said that she would like to have a boy and a girl once they’re married.

I’d jokingly badgered Doug at The Venetian about proposing and having the engagement ring ready for her birthday. He laughed and told me: “I didn’t want to take anything away from her fun on her birthday. I want it to be a very special occasion, something far more romantic than a nightclub. Today is her birthday celebration. We’ll celebrate the engagement in the very near future, but it will still come as a surprise.”

Paris chimed in: “I am so happy and so in love. Of course we’ve talked about it all: getting engaged, getting married and our life together, and we’re excited about it all. I already have my birthday wish come true in Doug, so I can only now wish to continue having another successful year and having fun with family, friends and loved ones.”

It’s the first time Paris and Doug have talked so openly about their romance and future plans together. They were in Las Vegas for 48 hours celebrating her 29th birthday at Tao. Her parents Rick and Kathy Hilton flew in for the fun, and Doug even danced with his future mother-in-law at the party.

“I love how my parents love him,” Paris said. “We all get along famously. His parents, my parents. It’s just great because we’re all family already. I even think of his sister Casey as my future sister-in-law.”

She walked the red carpet wearing an all-white dress by Preen with lacy cutouts, Christian Louboutin shoes and a purse from her own Paris Hilton Collection. She topped her ensemble with new Chanel earrings that Doug had given her on their visit 10 days ago to France, where she’d filmed a European commercial. Paris posed for photographers and chatted about her new album, fragrance and upcoming TV projects. When asked about wedding bells, she said, “We’ll see what happens in the future, but right now we are so happy to be together, and we are really in love.”

The group dined under the watchful eye of Tao’s larger-than-life Buddha, and hair care king Michael Boychuck, who has been Paris’ colorist for a decade, stopped by their table with his birthday wishes. Paris had been styled for the night by his glam squad from his Color salon at Caesars Palace.

A tower of cupcakes as a gift from mom Kathy was brought to the table, and the restaurant joined in “Happy Birthday.” After dinner, Paris commandeered a VIP table in the nightclub and danced to the sounds of DJ Vice. The parade of birthday desserts continued with a giant cake from Gimme Some Sugar. Paris got on the microphone, thanking everyone for coming to Tao to celebrate with her. DJ Vice played her hit “Stars Are Blind,” and her parents got on the mic, telling the crowd how much they loved Tao and also thanking everyone. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who was all over the Strip this weekend, stopped by to wish his namesake a Happy Birthday and was greeted warmly.

MORE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

It wasn’t just Paris’ birthday bash this weekend at Tao. NBA legend Charles Barkley, who turned 47 on Saturday, continued the party he’d started at Tao the previous night. Floyd Mayweather Jr. also had an early dinner and celebration for his 33rd birthday this Wednesday.

Among the stars at Tao during the triple birthday celebrations: NFL player Jamie Sharper and his brother Darren Sharper of the New Orleans Saints, Brian Baumgartner of The Office, Law and Order’s Chris Noth and actor comedian Jay Mohr and his actress wife Nikki Cox.

Paris and Doug partied until 4 a.m. She returned to L.A. yesterday afternoon with her group, and when they boarded the jet here, to her surprise and delight was yet a third birthday cake. Said Paris via Twitter: “What a fun night. My mom and Doug were so cute dancing together. We all had a blast. It was great from start to finish. Vegas is crazy. I’ve never seen TAO so packed. It seemed like it was New Year’s Eve.”

I’ll confirm that because in the 10 years I’ve been going to Venetian events since its opening by Sophia Loren, I have never seen so many people for a celebrity or VIP. People were hanging for Paris five deep along the staircases from the casino up to the Grand Canal mezzanine level and the walk to Tao.

Before the night ended, I asked Paris and Doug what their love match meant to each other and how it has changed them. Said Paris: “We have become each other’s best friend. We’re enjoying life together in a whole different way. I agree with Doug when he says we’ve definitely made each other grow up and become a little bit more mature and better adults, better people.”

Doug added: “We’ve taught each other how to love and care about each other. The whole thing is just working beautifully. “

I’ve known Paris since her early teenage days. She gave me a kiss on the cheek and said, “We push each other to be the best we can be. Love is grand, and it doesn’t get any better than this. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. It’s amazing, and it’s going to go on getting even better.”
