An engagement ring and wedding announcement might be getting closer and closer for Paris Hilton. Watch for a possible revelation come Feb. 14. Paris and boyfriend Doug Reinhardt have been a romantic duo for a year now and visited Las Vegas regularly the past 12 months.
They have just wrapped a New Year’s honeymoon-styled vacation in Aspen. This week, the couple had dinner at home with Doug’s family as rumors started to escalate that we may well have a 2010 wedding. Doug’s mom and Paris really hit it off, so the mother-in-law problem is not a problem!
Although Doug gave Paris diamond jewelry for Christmas, there wasn’t an engagement ring -- yet. Paris has told her closest confidantes that the two of them have a “bright, happy future together.” All I can say for now is that the good news is getting closer as the days tick down.
Donny Osmond returns to the Flamingo with his champion's mirrored disco ball trophy on Nov. 25, 2009, after his win on ABC's Dancing With the Stars with Kym Johnson on Tuesday night.
*The flurry of headlines the past two days about Donny Osmond’s new radio show are old news to VDLX readers. We featured that story in October during Donny’s Dancing With the Stars run when he told us he would be building a recording studio backstage in his Flamingo dressing room. A self-confessed tech geek, Donny also said he has a full audio-video recording studio at his Utah home.
Pete Wentz hosts the New Year's Eve 2009 celebration at Jet in The Mirage.
Wicked whispers & racy rumors
A first-ever, large-scale meeting of Las Vegas hotel and resort owners and corporate chiefs is set for next week to brainstorm attractions for our valley and also attempt to form a united front to market our abundant supply of hotel rooms more effectively. The main mission is to determine and seek services that could be offered to visitors that haven’t been available before. One of the world’s most respected and largest medical organizations wants to assist with planning. … Was there a reason why Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz kept his sunglasses on at the Jet New Year’s Eve party he hosted? Did it have to do with him turning up solo and without wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz? Rumors are flying that Pete was in a bad mood on NYE and that the glasses hid a shiner! Some in-the-know folks at The Mirage nightclub said Pete was cranky and refused to let anybody take photos of him with guests, and when the clock neared midnight, he had to be assisted with the countdown by a DJ.
The 1st birthday of Siegfried & Roy's tiger cubs at The Mirage.
*Siegfried & Roy will be honored at the 33rd World Magic Seminar at The Orleans from Feb. 28 to March 3. They also will present the Gold Lion Head Award and the $5,000 Siegfried & Roy Sarmoti Award to budding magicians. Lance Burton will host a teen contest, with Las Vegas magicians Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger mentoring and reviewing participants Feb. 26-28.
*Caesars Palace will debut its Garden of the Gods in March with a grand opening to showcase five new multi-layer pools (Apollo, Fortuna, Jupiter and two side-by-sides known as Bacchus). They join the three pools Neptune, Venus and Temple that have made the pleasure zone one of Las Vegas’ most recognized retreats. This collection will increase the Garden of the Gods to 5 acres, and highlights include swim-up gaming, an 18-foot waterfall and cocktails inspired by the Garden of the Gods. Azure-colored deck chairs, daybeds and 45 cabanas surround the pool.
*Steve Wynn’s ambitious new Beach Club at the Encore will open over Memorial Day weekend. It will have three pools splashed out over 50,000 square feet, 4,000 square feet for Surrender Nightclub and 7,500 square feet of decks between an outdoor gaming area. Switch will be incorporated into the Beach zone, making it a day and night bistro. As VDLX reported weeks ago, the $100 million project will be exactly what Steve wanted: the most opulent, luxurious pool playground complex ever built anywhere in the world.

NFL Hall of Famer Warren Moon was in suit and tie for dinner at Lavo in the Palazzo. He enjoyed the Kobe meatball and rigatoni Bolognese, along with Grey Goose Cosmopolitans with orange juice. Upstairs in the boutique nightclub, adult film star Jenna Haze arrived just before midnight with a group of guys and a girlfriend. She drank Jack and Coke and danced in front of the DJ booth while taking photos with fans until the pre-dawn hours. … Reality TV star Robert Kardashian Jr. and Scott Disick, whose girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian recently gave birth to their son, had asada tacos and burritos and Camino de Oro cocktails for lunch at Dos Caminos in the Palazzo. The guys hit Sushi Samba for a dinner of sea bass skewers, A5 Kobe beef and caipirinhas.
