The experienced clubgoer in Las Vegas knows this one simple rule when a celebrity is hosting at a nightclub: Stars are never on time. The doors might open at 10:30 or 11 p.m., but, in most instances, the star attraction won’t make an appearance until at least midnight. Last Saturday at Haze in Aria, DJ David Guetta didn’t hit the DJ booth until nearly 1:30 a.m., but he was worth the wait.
Singer Usher beat David and most other guest hosts, taking to the spotlight at Haze last night, or, rather, this morning, at 2 a.m. with Dr. Dre in his entourage. Wearing all black and his sunglasses at night, he was advertised to sing his latest single, “Daddy’s Home.” Instead, he did a mash-up of “Daddy’s Home” and a few of his biggest hits, including “Yeah” and “Love in This Club,” singing along to his tracks. John Legend, who is celebrating his birthday at Haze tomorrow night, is likely to do the same thing.
The dance floor is the place to be at Haze, from the full DJ experience in sound to the amazing lighting system to the guest celebrity appearances to the big screens and burlesque performances. Our photographers Scott Harrison and Denise Truscello were onsite for Usher’s appearance on the red carpet.
The highlight of the night was meeting Andrew Moore, the London man behind Kryoman, before entering Haze. He talked about his residencies and work in Miami and Ibiza and told us that he would go on at 12:30 and 2:30 a.m. … and he went on at 12:30 and 2:30 a.m. His color-changing costume, dry ice, lasers and confetti are an entertaining spectacle and a unique Strip nightclub experience.
Check back later for photos and videos inside Haze from my digital camera.
