No less than 11 Las Vegas nightlife stars have wound up as finalists in the 2010 Nightclub & Bar Awards. The winners will be announced next month and will be honored during the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show at Lavo in the Palazzo on March 10.

The finalists are being announced this morning and include Rain in the Palms and XS in Steve Wynn’s Encore in the Megaclub of the Year category. They compete against Stingaree in San Diego and Pacha in Manhattan. Victor Drai’s XS is highlighted again in the New Club of the Year category competing against Voyeur in West Hollywood, Playhouse Hollywood in Los Angeles and Infusion in San Francisco.

In the Nightclub of the Year category, no fewer than three clubs are among the five finalists: Tao in The Venetian and its sister club Lavo join with Tryst in the Wynn to compete against The Avalon in Hollywood and Opera in Atlanta.

2010 Nightlife & Bar Awards Nominees

Two Las Vegas resident DJs -- Paul Oakenfold and Z-Trip, who both perform at Rain -- compete against each other for Best DJ and against Danny Tenaglia at Pacha and Roonie G from Opera. Paul’s weekly Perfecto Las Vegas at Rain is up against Worship Thursdays at Tao and Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel in the category Ongoing Promotion of the Year. Again, the war is on with Pacha with its Toolroom Knights promotion.

The Palms has two nominations among the four nominees in the Single Promotion of the Year. They were nominated for the Love Festival and the Midsummer Night’s Dream event, and they go against the fourth-year anniversary celebration festivities at Tao and Opera for the Young and the Restless promotion.

Las Vegas has one entrant in the Ultra Lounge of the Year category with Blush in the Wynn. It competes with Chicago’s Pink Monday, Atlanta’s Hale lounge and Philadelphia’s 32 Degrees Lux lounge.

In the bar category, Las Vegas scored two nominations: Frankie’s Tiki Room is a finalist for Cocktail Lounge of the Year, and Blondie’s Bar & Grill is one of the four finalists in the Sports Bar of the Year category.
