Star-studded holiday weekend gets underway in Las Vegas

It was only the first day of the four-day holiday weekend celebrating America’s 237th birthday, and the stars were out in full force. There were even reports that some of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse cast turned up unannounced at two movie theaters here to surprise fans of their new box office blockbuster.

Legendary comedy king Bill Cosby, long revered and admired as one of America’s top superstar entertainers, kicked off our Las Vegas holiday weekend last night with a show at Treasure Island. Brian Jones of Las Vegas News Bureau shot the opening of Bill’s sit-down comedy routine.

Jersey Shore stud Ronnie Ortiz-Magro walked the red carpet at Jet in The Mirage to start his night of hosting duties there. Thanks to Christopher Rauschnot @24kMedia on Twitter for his video posted on YouTube.

UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer kicked off the opening ceremonies of his new Poker Room at the Luxor and had all the stars sharing in the special poker-chip cake created by the resort’s chef.

On hand for dessert and play were UFC stars Chuck Liddell, Mike Swick and Luke Burrett with his wife Charis, a former Playboy Playmate (they’re owners of apparel company Silver Star), plus boxers Evander Holyfield and Fernando Vargas.

Porn princess Jenna Haze had eyes-a-popping at the newly opened Crown Nightclub in The Rio when she arrived on the red carpet, and contributing videographer Richard Corey was there for the action.

In advance of his band’s Mandalay Bay Beach concert, A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys went shopping with his girlfriend at Betsey Johnson in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops.

Tonight all eyes will be on the UFC 116 heavyweight showdown between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin. Sexy ring girl Arianny Celeste was among those watching yesterday’s late afternoon weigh-in of the two Goliaths who battle it out at MGM Grand Garden Arena in tonight’s ultimate showdown.
