Strip Scribbles: Nickelback to wrap world tour in Las Vegas on Oct. 30

Billboard’s Group of the Decade Nickelback, who performed at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, has extended its Dark Horse World Tour with a new leg to start Sept. 14 in Nashville and wrap right here in Las Vegas on Oct. 30. The show, with Buckcherry and Three Days Grace, is at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Tickets go on sale July 17. Since starting the Dark Horse trip, Nickelback has sold more than 1.6 million tickets and played more than 120 sold-out shows. This leg adds 25 dates to the run by frontman Chad Kroger and the band.

*Our colleagues at Las Vegas magazine are introducing video technology to their publication in a few weeks, and I had the honor and privilege of doing the first new feature last night with beloved Editor Leslie Frisbee. A bar code will appear in the weekly magazine that can be read by an iPhone or other smart-phone devices, and up pops the video on your cell.

We shot the debut segment at Simon in Palms Place with George Maloof watching, and then it was time for the cameras to trek inside star chef Kerry Simon’s kitchen for a lesson from the Iron Chef winner on making cotton candy as a junk food dessert.

STAR SURVEILLANCE

After playing last night for President Obama and Sen. Harry Reid, The Killers hung out with producer Tommy Lipnick at Vanity in the Hard Rock Hotel. Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. dined with his entourage at Mr. Lucky’s in the Hard Rock. … Dallas Mavericks star and UNLV alumnus Shawn Marion was at N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms one table away from comedy actor Hank Azaria and another table away from reality TV star Shanna Moakler, who was joined for dinner by pro poker prince Chris Ferguson. Shawn went up to Ghostbar with friends after dinner. … Phoenix Suns star Dan Majerle and five-time NBA champion Bill Cartwright, Suns assistant coach, dined at Simon.

FRIDAY, JULY 9

*Miranda Lambert and The Bangles join Sarah McLachlan as three of the lineup of seven acts playing on two stages in Lilith Fair: Celebration of Women in Music at Mandalay Bay Beach. You might see Queen Latifah and Emmylou Harris in the rotating lineup of 80 artists on the tour.

*Jazzman Ottmar Liebert makes the smooth sounds of Barcelona Nights and Nouveau Flamenco at Boulder Station. … The Four Freshmen reprise their hits of yesteryear at South Point for three nights.

*Please support my friends former Baywatch star Angelica Bridges and her sassy, sexy Fantasy girls from the Luxor at the Adam & Eve Charity Love Fling poolside party at Golden Nugget downtown. The bachelor and bachelorette auction raises funds for New Vista Community.

*Author Lisa Lillien has a two-hour book signing at Planet Hollywood for her new tome Hungry Girl Happy Hour. The new volume includes 75 recipes for guilt-free cocktails and party foods.

*My iCalendar reminds me that it’s the soft opening of the 11,500-square-foot Lolita’s Cantina and Tequila Bar in Town Square.

SATURDAY, JULY 10

*Playboy pinup and blonde Baywatch bombshell beauty Pamela Anderson celebrates her 43rd birthday with parties at Tao Beach and Tao in The Venetian.

*No Debauchery in the Desert with Camp Freddy would be complete without the addition of sexy, scantily clad dancing girls, so they’ve enlisted the seductive stylings of X Burlesque’s X Girls to open the show at The Pearl in the Palms. The X Girls will perform their hot, heart-stopping moves during a high-energy, 30-minute performance before the all-star rockers hit the stage and serves as the world premiere of the new burlesque show Teased. Camp Freddy’s lineup features Billy Duffy (The Cult), Steve Jones (The Sex Pistols), Donovan Leitch Jr. (Nancy Boy), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Matt Sorum (Guns ’N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver).

“Sexy girls are synonymous with rock and roll, and the X Girls are a perfect fit to kick things off,” producer Angela Stabile. “Hot girls and hot rockers equal Debauchery in the Desert with Camp Freddy!” Unannounced performers are planned, and I can reveal that Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil is flying back from New York to perform. Simultaneously, Palms casino chief Jimmy Tipton throws his annual Naughty Nitey Night for high rollers.

*Sexy Carmen Electra host at Crown Nightclub in The Rio, as we reported this morning.

*The Wailers, who became reggae legends backing Bob Marley, return to Mandalay Bay Beach for the second summer in a row.

*The D-List comes to life at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace with sassy, fresh-mouthed comedienne Kathy Griffin, who takes no prisoners with her fearless forays about Hollywood’s troubled stars and reality TV train wrecks.

*Master mimic Rich Little, aka “The Man of a Thousand Voices,” is at the Cannery. Rich is a trailblazer in the field of impressions.

*Mickey Thomas of Starship is at Eastside Cannery. … The Four Tops and The Temptations team up for double R&B power at Star of the Desert Arena in Primm. … Hometown hero and singer Clint Holmes is at the Suncoast for two nights. … Patty Smyth and Scandal perform at Red Rock Resort. ... SUNDAY, JULY 11

*After one month and 62 games, we’ve reached the end of the road for the World Cup, and it all comes down to a battle between first-time finalists Spain and The Netherlands. Matt Goss is hosting his pub-styled party in Gossy Lounge aboard Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesars Palace, while Steve Wynn’s Encore Theater in the Wynn screens the match on one of the largest HD screens in town.

*Comic Andrew Dice Clay kicks off a weeklong run putting the Sin back into our City at the Las Vegas Hilton.

*Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine play Carey Hart’s Wasted Space in the Hard Rock.

*Las Vegas icon (Sir) Monti Rock III presents his one-of-a-kind cabaret at Hennessy’s downtown on Fremont Street with a reprise of his million-selling disco records Disco Tex and Sex–O-Lettes.

*Ferry Corsten and Sandy Kleinenberg team up for double duty as headliners at the Daylife party at MGM Grand’s Wet Republic.
