From July 14 through Aug. 4, Robin Leach will be relaxing under the Tuscan sun on his annual vacation and keeping his eyes on what’s happening in Las Vegas from Italy. Meantime, a kindly crew of Las Vegas celebrities and VIPs has agreed to write guest columns for Vegas DeLuxe.

On behalf of Human Nature -- brothers Michael and Andrew Tierney, Toby Allen and Phil Burton -- we want to thank Robin for this opportunity to share some of our thoughts and to extend our thanks to Harrah’s and everyone who has supported and helped us during our first year of performing Motown hits and living in Las Vegas. Winning the Best Singers in Las Vegas 2010 award our first year on the Strip was thrilling and greatly appreciated. -- Andrew Tierney

ANDREW TIERNEY

It didn’t take long for Las Vegas to grow on me. I used to think there was just The Strip and desert and wondered where people lived. Now I know since I am one of them and enjoy a cool suburban life.

I also enjoy people’s reaction when you tell them you live in Las Vegas. No matter where they’re from, they seem jealous!

Performing six nights a week in the Human Nature Theater at Imperial Palace is unbelievable since the four of us often sat around in Sydney, Australia, dreaming that one day, someone in the Entertainment Capital of the World would see us, realize our potential and give us a shot here on The Strip. Adam Steck, our producer, did, and now we are here making people who see our show happy.

Las Vegas is even more special to me now because my wife Andrea just gave birth to our first child, and it happened here in this wonderful city. We are so excited and pleased to share the news with family, friends, co-workers and fans. Now singing “Ooh, Ooh Baby” is really special!

All of us feel our dreams are coming true in Las Vegas. We love being part of the fabulous entertainment scene and hope when people come to see our show, we bring them some enjoyment and make their day happier. Another reason to celebrate -- we just performed our 300th show at Imperial Palace!

PHIL BURTON

Las Vegas is really a dream come true for us. Even after a year, we still pinch ourselves that we're performing on The Strip! True, it can be tiring performing six nights a week, but getting the chance to sing in The Entertainment Capital of the World is cool. I particularly love singing the a capella tunes in the show. Stripping it back and showing the audience what we're capable of. Of course, throwing in a big tune like “25 Miles” and rocking out is a lot of fun, too!

On a personal note, what I really like about Las Vegas is that no matter where you are, there is always somewhere really nice (and quite cheap!) to stop in and have the exact kind of meal you’re after. You’ll never complain that you can’t find a satisfying meal in this town!

TOBY ALLEN

We were a little naive when we came to Las Vegas about the importance of getting a showroom in which to perform on the famous Strip. But a year later, we now understand how sought after and competitive this town can be, and it has been so gratifying to experience the acceptance of the Las Vegas community and the appreciation from our audiences.

We always give our all every performance and are happy for the recognition we have received. The best singers award and when Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman proclaimed May 12, 2010, “Human Nature Day” -- we were stunned, excited, surprised and very appreciative.

Las Vegas amazes me, and I was happily surprised to discover the existence of snow only an hour from a place where it often hits the three-digit mark. Being able to ski so close to home one day and visit the awesome Hoover Dam the next is exciting.

Crazy Girls of the Riviera are this weekend’s guest columnists.
