Whether you’re into NBA superstars including LeBron James and Lamar Odom, Tosh.O, Team Jacob (or at least his wolf pack) or have Bieber Fever, or perhaps all of the above, Las Vegas has something for all the star-struck party people out there this weekend.
Friday, July 23
In case you’ve been living under a rock, James recently made The Biggest Sports Decision of the Year and left the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign with the Miami Heat. James, however, didn’t need a TV special to announce that he’s appearing at Lavo in the Palazzo tonight, and Tao Group is rolling out the red carpet for King James. James also will be at Tao in The Venetian on Saturday, but no red carpet is planned. New teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are in town for the Team USA minicamp, so don’t be surprised if they make appearances at the hotspots.
Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers stretches before the USA Basketball Men's National Team workout at Cox Pavilion on July 21, 2010.
Lamar Odom of the champion Los Angeles Lakers and wife Khloe Kardashian are at Pure in Caesars Palace, and UNLV alumnus Shawn Marion of the Dallas Mavericks (not to be confused with Shawne Merriman of the San Diego Chargers) and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child fame are at Tao to kick off Marion’s benefit celebrity poker tournament.
If NBA locker rooms aren’t your thing, Twi-Hards will be elated to learn that werewolves Tinsel Korey (Emily), Alex Merz (Paul) and Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater) are at Tao Beach and then make another appearance at Lavo on Saturday. Sorry, Taylor Lautner isn’t expected to attend.
Nick Cannon at The Lounge in the Palms on July 22, 2010.
Comedian Daniel Tosh of Tosh.O on Comedy Central, who recently overtook Jon Stewart as the most-watched kid on the Comedy Central block, is at Terry Fator Theater in The Mirage through Saturday. Did you know that actor, writer, producer and TV host Nick Cannon has been performing standup since age 15? Cannon’s doing his standup thing at The Lounge in the Palms through Saturday and also performs at Rain after tonight’s standup.
For music fans, Keane is at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay, REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar are at Thomas & Mack Center, with the former’s after-party at Rok Vegas in New York-New York, and Katchafire with Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds are at the Hard Rock Hotel pool.
Justin Bieber performs at the Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas Strip on Oct. 24, 2009.
Saturday, July 24
The piercing screams heard for miles around will be for teen pop sensation Justin Bieber, who’ll be singing his “Baby” (now the most-watched video on YouTube, although he’s in a tug-of-war with Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”), “One Less Lonely Girl” and “Somebody to Love” at Planet Hollywood. Singer Eve, a scrupulous competing glee teacher on Season 1 of Glee, is at Venus Pool Club at Caesars Palace by day and LAX in the Luxor by night.
San Diego’s in the house with DJs Scooter and Lavelle at Liquid Pool Lounge in Aria, and Sean Kingston will have the right temperature just up the hallway and down the escalator at Haze. DJ and singer BT, who sings “Somnambulist/Simply Being Loved,” one of the best songs ever, is featured at Rain at Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Saturdays, and singer Jimmy Cliff with guest Trevor Hall is at Mandalay Bay Beach.
Whitney Port at Jet in The Mirage.
For TV fans and your laughing and licking pleasure, Jerry Seinfeld is at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace through Saturday, and Whitney Port of The City, the spinoff of MTV’s now-off-the-air The Hills, is at Sugar Factory in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops. Port misses by one week former co-star and BFF Lauren Conrad, who is at Tao Beach on July 31.
Check back Monday morning for the celebrity weekend wrap-up, and happy stargazing.
