Contributing photographer Erik Kabik was on duty for Moksha’s third anniversary performances over the weekend at Binion’s, and the following review is from George Lyons of the radio show The Lyons Den.
Moksa celebrated its third anniversary on Binion’s rooftop with two nights of performances last Friday and Saturday. Las Vegas-based Moksha made its triumphant return to the stage, after a short layoff after the release of its debut CD Mammal or Machine, to a crowd of locals that welcomed the hot temperatures and hot music.
Moksha is now showing the public what three solid years of hard work and dedication to music can do. The band is about to embark on a West Coast tour that wraps in Berkeley, Calif., where it will perform at two Phish after-parties with guests Jennifer Hartswick and Jeff Cressman.
At the two Binion’s shows, Moksha debuted a few songs and didn’t repeat a single song either night. After four sets of Moksha in two days, the crowd and band were drained but satisfied. To put an exclamation point on the third anniversary, guitarist Jeremy Parks and drummer Pat Gray did a cannonball into the pool to celebrate the 95-degree heat at 2 a.m.
Happy Third Anniversary, Moksha!
The Lyons Den airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on 91.5 FM KUNV and features the Erik Kabik Las Vegas entertainment report at 7:50 p.m.
