It was another wild Las Vegas weekend of concerts, and our contributing photographers were kept hopping but managed to capture them all.
DEVO
Devo performed at the grand opening of Crown Theater and Nightclub at The Rio on Saturday. After the show, they joined guests as the theater transformed into a nightclub and the celebrity DJ team of Clark Duke and Chris Holmes, who make up Show Business, spun the wheels of steel onstage.
Celebrities in attendance included Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak, Jacob Zacher of Greek, Brittny Gastineau, Daisy de la Hoya, Robert Horry, Pauly Shore, Carrot Top and radio host Amy Heart.
MICHAEL BOLTON
You couldn’t have asked for better nighttime weather for singer Michael Bolton’s under-the-stars, private poolside concert at Garden of the Gods at Caesars Palace. Our spywitness reported: “He opened with a cover of the classic Bee Gees’ tune ‘To Love Somebody’ written by Otis Redding, but then recorded by The Bee Gees after Redding’s untimely death. Michael followed up with another cover tune, Redding’s ‘Dock of the Bay,’ followed by his own hit ‘Said I Loved You, But I Lied.’
“You couldn’t have asked for a better show in a more beautiful setting.” Michael dined in Rao’s private dining room, and contributing photographer Erik Kabik covered the show.
KKLZ JUNEFEST MUSIC FESTIVAL
*More than 4,000 fans turned out for Steppenwolf, Berlin and Family Stone at the largest Las Vegas high school reunion on record over the weekend at South Point. Contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was on duty at the KKLZ JuneFest Music Festival presented by Terri Nunn of Berlin and John Kay of Steppenwolf. Tom’s photographs tell the story of a super-rock celebration.
FLAVOR FLAV
*Legendary hip-hop and reality TV star Flavor Flav moved onto the new Hard Rock Cafe Strip after his plans for a nightclub at Monte Carlo fell through. The Public Enemy rapper was so determined to make his opening night a huge success, he even walked out on the Strip inviting people to the show, and contributing photographer Scott Harrison was there for all the action. Flavor is hoping it will become his regular venue.
