Hours into the opening yesterday of a very limited-run exhibit of crime memorabilia and evidence at the Palms, the family of slain Sen. Robert Kennedy succeeded in having the shirt he wore the day he was assassinated withdrawn. Otherwise, some never-before-seen courtroom items used as evidence in some of Hollywood’s most horrific homicides were still intact at the Key West ballroom in the Palms.

Our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was there for two hours this morning before the first wave of curious crowds showed up to look at the free exhibit. It is open today, tomorrow and Friday as part of the California Homicide Investigators Association 2010 conference sponsored by the LAPD.
