Legends cast invites Sarah Palin to Harrah’s stage

The cast of Legends in Concert at Harrah’s has sent an invitation to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to join the Strip show any time she wishes to re-create award-winning 30 Rock star Tina Fey. Tina has lampooned Sarah with impersonations on Saturday Night Live all the way to an Emmy Award. The invitation follows the former vice presidential nominee’s standup monologue on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday night.
Sarah joked about the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C. She laughed at herself over notes inked on her hand. She humored Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, who also appeared on the late-night NBC show. She compared the cold weather of Alaska to the frozen Botox smiles of Beverly Hills.
But then it was time to issue a warning to Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley impersonators on the Strip. She laughed: “I picked up a gig in Las Vegas at the Legends show playing Tina Fey.” You can hear it for yourself at these posts on MSN.com and WashingtonPost.com.
Yesterday, the Legends cast promptly invited Sarah to join them onstage. Never expecting her to be this funny as a standup comic and now knowing that she can joke with the best of them, don’t be surprised if she does show up unexpectedly. After all, she is the keynote speaker to kick off the Mega Tea Party Showdown Tour starting in Sen. Harry Reid’s hometown of Searchlight, Nev., on March 27. That’s only a 30-minute spin up I-15 to the Strip.
Legends in Concert is one of the longest-running Strip shows. It began in 1983 at Imperial Palace but moved next door to Harrah’s last year.
