The statistic is mind-blowing: $4.010 billion in ticket sales for Warner Bros. from its 2009 worldwide box office. Here in the U.S. alone, the company raked in more than $2 billion. The staggering numbers were revealed yesterday when ShoWest announced that it will present the Achievement Award to the company at the final night’s banquet and awards ceremony March 18 as the four-day convention wraps at Bally’s and Paris.
While in Las Vegas the week after next, Warner executives will announce a bigger blockbuster lineup for 2010. Expect to see Clash of the Titans starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes; Sex and the City 2; Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1; the Clint Eastwood-directed Hereafter starring Matt Damon; and Life as We Know It starring Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel and Josh Lucas.
Warner’s record in 2009 included nine films that opened at No. 1 and held the top spot for 12 weeks total: Gran Torino, He’s Just Not That Into You, Friday the 13th, Watchmen, 17 Again, The Hangover, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Final Destination and Where the Wild Things Are. Six of the studio’s films grossed more than $100 million domestically: Watchmen, $107 million; Terminator Salvation, $125 million; The Hangover, $277 million (making it the top-grossing R-rated comedy of all time); Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, $302 million; The Blind Side, $248 million; and Sherlock Holmes, $206 million. Many stars of Warner’s upcoming films will be here for ShoWest.

The designers use organic materials such as exotic hardwoods and Mother of Pearl jewelry for the casings with insets of diamonds, sapphires, opals and rubies.
*Las Vegas-based best-selling author Todd Wilbur, creator off the Top Secret Recipes franchise, has announced a tie for the winner of his 1,000th recipe contest. He’s named the chicken and gnocchi soup from The Olive Garden and KFC’s Kentucky Grilled Chicken as joint winners. The recipe contest, which kicked off with the release of his ninth cookbook Top Secret Recipes Unlocked, allowed the Clone Ranger’s fans to send him their pick for his 1,000th recipe. “I have already started unlocking the secret to the soup, and I expect to master that very soon,” Todd said. “I was amazed that after two months of tabulating all the entries for the 1,000th recipe, it ended in an exact tie.”
