Counter Intelligence: Rockhouse marks 1st anniversary with 80-ounce drink
By Robin Leach
Party with the hot cheerleaders at Rockhouse.
Hot off the grill! At 80 ounces, it might just break the record for the largest drink on the Las Vegas Strip. Tonight, the ultra dive bar Rockhouse on the Strip in front of Imperial Palace will provide revelers with a plastic strap-on guitar cup filled with either 80 ounces of beer or frozen daiquiri. That’s really rocking out -- maybe even passing out -- and major brain freeze.
Unfortunately, that delightful tire swing is not on the market.
The bar dancing and tire swinging is all to celebrate the first anniversary of the late grand opening party from last year. Rockhouse and the sinfully sexy girls there are turning 1. Celebrate in a tuxedo or jeans with the beautiful bartenders who also play inside a giant birdcage for added March madness and promise to keep the party going until 5 a.m.
*Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck opens his poolside restaurant Riva at The Venetian today for lunch now that our summer pool season is underway. My trademark “Rich & Famous” Pizza made with smoked salmon and caviar is available on the menu! Next door at the Palazzo, Wolf also opens his poolside restaurant Solaro today for breakfast and lunch.

*The lushly landscaped private pool at the Four Seasons Hotel at Mandalay Bay is getting a makeover for a June debut. All-new blue/green pool furniture will be set out on the refurbished deck and include lounges and daydream sofa beds, plus self-service sunscreen stations and iced espresso drinks.
*It’s a quirky holiday, but celebrity chef Julian Serrano promises to celebrate it in style this weekend. Saturday is National Spanish Paella Day, and every diner who orders paella receives a complimentary glass of sangria. Julian has created five special paella dishes for the holiday as the largest selection on the Strip priced at $40 to $50.

*Mandalay Bay execs have packaged up a dinner and show package if you’re headed to see Disney’s The Lion King there. Celebrity chefs Rick Moonen, Charlie Palmer, Michael Mina and Hubert Keller all have a $109 dinner in their restaurants that also includes tickets for the show and an automatic seat upgrade.
*A few tasty tips with Easter around the corner: You’ll find the sweetest confections imaginable at celebrity hangout The Sugar Factory in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile or at Amore, the premiere pastry shop at Mandarin Oriental in CityCenter. Pastry chef Gianni Santin has an Imperial Basket filled with a half-bottle of Veuve Clicquot, an assortment of chocolate Easter eggs, marshmallows, pate de fruits, one large chocolate rabbit, two solid white chocolate chicks and eight French macaroons for $150, or the Las Vegas Basket, with an assortment of Easter eggs, marshmallows, pate de fruits, one large chocolate rabbit, solid chocolate chicks and eight French macaroons, at $75. A large chocolate rabbit is $18.
*Chef Shawn Armstrong of Mandarin Oriental’s Mozen Bistro, one of the best new restaurants to emerge in Las Vegas, has created a $62 Easter brunch with menu offerings including dim sum, Kobe short ribs, slow-roasted pork belly, Thai crab salad, Indian potato Samosa, fresh shucked oysters and an assortment of sushi bar items.
