Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley celebrated his 30th birthday at Tao in The Venetian last night. To kick off the night’s celebration, Deryck and his friends dined on seafood specialties under the watchful eye of Tao’s larger-than-life Buddha, and at the end of the meal, he was surprised with a Jack Daniels birthday cake.

The rocker, who recently split from wife Avril Lavigne, and his pals each took a bite of the cake and then jokingly tried to take a drink out of the bottle-shaped confection. Not wanting to let the masterpiece go to waste, they gave the remainder of the cake to a nearby table of girls before heading up to the nightclub for the Worship Party, where they appropriately ordered Jack Daniels for their VIP table.

Earlier in the day, Deryck had Jack and Cokes with his lunch of guacamole, ceviche and tacos at Dos Caminos in the Palazzo.

Also spotted at Tao last night was Julius Peppers, who celebrated recently signing a six-year contract worth $91.5 million with the Chicago Bears. The new NFL mega mogul defensive end was snuggled up with his girlfriend.
