DWTS: And the first celebrity to depart Season 10 is …

The first celebrity couple has been eliminated from Season 10 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, and it’s likely not who viewers widely expected to get the cut.

SPOILER ALERT: Please do not read any further if you want to watch the West Coast tape-delayed broadcast of Dancing With the Stars. Consider this my one and only friendly warning! But come back after the show to see if you agree with my observations!

From my tweets:

DWTS Season 10: Week 2

Shock of shocks with actress Pamela Anderson, with Damian Whitewood, on the firing block, while astronaut Buzz Aldrin, with Ashly Costa, is declared safe. Will it be Pamela vs. reality TV star Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani vs. Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Ochocino with Cheryl Burke? Actress Shannon Doherty with Mark Ballas and ESPN host Erin Andrews also are not out of the woods, but no way is Erin moving out. Yet!

In the final seconds, Chad is safe. So it will probably come down barring any massive upset to Kate and Shannon from the bottom of the pack. The biggest shock and surprise is that Kate, despite fighting with Tony in last night’s episode, gets to stay. So it’s a sad so long to Shannen and Mark, who won Season 8 with Olympic gold medalist gymnast Shawn Johnson.

Check back here to Vegas DeLuxe in the morning for the elimination-episode photo gallery and recap.
