Jabbawockeez’s show MUS.IC premiered at MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theater with a star-studded turnout and, more importantly, rave reviews. Singer Sean Paul and The Venetian headliner and TV star Wayne Brady led the contingent that also included Jerome Williams of the New York Knicks and DeMarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys.
From the dance community, rapper and judge Lil Mama represented MTV’s Randy Jackson’s America’s Best Dance Crew, and choreographer and judge Mary Murphy represented Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. Rival dance crews Beat Freaks, SuperCr3w and Quest Crew showed up in support.
The pre-party at Tabu Ultra Lounge and the after-party at Studio 54 in MGM Grand also attracted DJ Franzen, DJ LKoczi, Boogaloo Shrimp and Survivor winners and all-stars Richard Hatch, Tom Westman, Ethan Zohn, Jenna Morasca, Stephanie LaGross and Big Tom Buchanan.
Jabbawockeez arrive for an after-party celebrating the opening night of their showMUS.I.C. at Studio 54 in MGM Grand on May 7, 2010.
Jabbawockeez, with its one-of-a-kind style and culture, was formed in 2003. Since winning Season 1, they’ve starred alongside Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Ellen DeGeneres, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa and appeared on SYTYCD, Dancing With the Stars and America’s Next Top Model.
The opening-night red carpet festivities became the talk of the town, and reviews heaped praise on the audio-visual story of inspiration brought to life through the harmonization of sound and movement. MUS.IC continues at MGM Grand through May 26. Our Editor Don Chareunsy is attending a performance tomorrow night, and we’ll have his report Thursday.
